Central Fish Company - Japanese Market
Central Fish Company is a family-owned Japanese market in Fresno's Chinatown. It has been located at 1535 Kern Street since 1950. The Central Fish Company has a large fish market, a fully stocked Japanese grocery store, and an eatery on the first floor. On the second floor is a Daiso store (a "100 yen" store equal to U.S. dollar stores). http://www.centralfish.com/

The restaurant is located on left side of the store, and has a good number of tables plus a counter. The menu consists of Japanese dishes and seafood dishes, as well as fish
and chips and chicken katsu. Most dishes are old school except for the recent addition of Poke (2 choices - tuna or salmon).

The service is fast, and the eatery busy. Be prepared to grab a napkin and wipe away a few crumbs from a table. Customers represent all the diversity of Fresno. Some come for the fish, others for the Japanese dishes.
We ordered the Mixed Seafood (a seafood combo plate) and a Tuna Poke Bowl. The portions were very good.
The Tuna Poke bowl is a full fish bowl (with none of the trendy extras and finishes found in many restaurants). The bowl was all tuna with the sauce, plus seasoning with a few scallions and white onions

The Mixed Seafood consisted of battered fried fish, breaded squid steak, and shrimp tempura, with sides of rice and salad (lettuce with 1000 Islands dressing).

We also ordered two side dishes: Vegetable Tempura (carrot, broccoli, yam, carrot) and Squid Steak. Both were warm and delicious.
There is no dessert menu, so we finished off with some cookies from the store.

The meals with two appetizers came to $25.50.
This looks like another great place in Fresno.
