The Berrock Shop
The Berrock Shop is a Northwest Fresno institution celebrating its 40th year. Berrocks (or Bierocks) are a hand-held meat pie. Berrocks were brought to the United States in the 1880s by Volga Germans and German Russian Mennonite immigrants. Berrocks are similar to pirogis. The Berrock Shop is known especially for pies--especially chicken pot pies and fruit pies. They also serve burgers and sandwiches. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

We ordered a shredded beef berrock platter and a chicken pot pie. We ordered beans as the side for the berrock and a salad with the chicken pot pie. They also have fries, potato salad, pasta salad, pilaf, soup, and chili as sides. Platters come with a beverage. Berrocks can be ordered with ground beef, barbecue beef, and Mexican ground beef. A breakfast berrock is filled with eggs, onions, cheese, and either ham or bacon. You order the food at the counter, and they bring it to your table.
