Kogetsu-Do Confectionery is a Japanese dessert shop located in the old Chinatown section of downtown Fresno. Chinatown includes the old Nihonmachi (Japan Town). Kogetsu-Do celebrated its one hundredth year in business in 2014.
We sampled a little of everything they had. We had a mochi filled with ice cream, mochi filled with three berries, mochi filled with peach, and manju filled with sweet bean paste. The difference between mochi and manju is mochi is made with rice flour while manju is made with wheat and buckwheat flour.
