Shila Korean BBQ

Shila Korean BBQ

Shila Korean BBQ is located at 2760 West Shaw Avenue in Fresno. There is a second location in Clovis at 1205 Herndon Avenue.
Korean BBQ, called gogi-gui ("meat roast"), is a popular method of grilling meat, chicken, and seafood on a grill built into the dining table. Shila Korean BBQ requires a party consist of at least two people. At least one of your party should like to cook because you will be grilling most of your meal.
The food is all you can eat for a fixed price. Lunch is $13 per person Monday through Friday and $15 on Saturday. Dinner is $21 per person or $25 if you choose the selection including rib eye steak. Sunday only has a dinner menu all day.
You order three selections of meat and seafood at a time. When you have finished grilling the first three selections, your order more. You also go to the Korean-style salad bar that has a selection of raw vegetables to cook, large leaf lettuce for wraps, and noodles and other side dishes.

Our entire selections consisted of bulgogi (seasoned beef), pork belly, beef brisket, boneless short rib, spicy pork belly, bbq chicken, spicy bbq chicken, baby octopus, squid, whole shrimp, beef tongue, pork bulgogi, spicy pork bulgogi, New York steak, and beef sirloin. You also can order Korean-style pancakes, steamed egg, and tofu soup. As expected, the meat and fish selections arrived raw but fresh, so be prepared to get by the visuals (for example, baby octopus) and grill away.

Ask your server for directions on how to grill selections new to you. Our server told us to grill the baby octopus until it was dark and crispy on the outside. We followed his instructions, and the baby octopus was perfect, especially wrapped in a fresh lettuce leaf with a sweet sauce.

Bring a large appetite because there is a large selection you may want to sample. Our favorite food along with the classic bulgogi was the baby octopus. In the end, we found the Korean selections like bulgogi and baby octopus were better suited to in-table grilling than American items such as the sirloin.
Shila Korean BBQ is open Monday - Sunday 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Sunday - Thursday 5:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., and Friday - Saturday 5:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Our two dinners came to $45.35 including tax.
