Markets with a Restaurant Inside - Korean - Asiana Korean Food and Restaurant

Asiana Food - Korean Market and Restaurant

Asiana Korean Food and Restaurant is a small Korean grocery store in North Fresno. The market and restaurant share an entrance, and each take up about half of the store. Asiana is located at 90 East Magill Avenue, which is right off Blackstone Avenue, just south of Herndon Avenue (behind the Jack in the Box). The market, though small, has a full line of Korean groceries.

Menu Boards in English and Korean
The restaurant is on the left side of the store. You order at the counter from the menu above it. The English language menu is on top, and the Korean language menu on the bottom. The woman behind the counter explained the Korean dishes. She was also the cook. If you are not familiar with Korean food, don't be afraid to ask.
Seating area
We ordered three dishes. The Number 6 Yummy BB-Q Combination, Dolsot Bibimbap (Bibimbap in a hot stone bowl), and fried pork dumplings. The Bibimbap contained carots, greens, daikon, a fried egg, and was topped with crunchy seaweed. It sizzled in the hot bowl as my companion mixed it all up. The dumplings were crisp on the outside and warm and meaty inside. The BB-Q contained Beef Bulgogi, Grilled Pork, and Grilled Chicken over shredded cabbage and topped with sesame seeds.

Banchan
The food was served with Korean appetizers (Banchan) including kimchi, daikon, and pickled cucumbers.

The BB-Q was served with rice, and we ate with metal chopsticks (but American utensils are available upon asking).
Metal Chopsticks and Rice
There was no desert on the menu so we bought some sweets inside the store. We got some mochi (sweet and soft rice cake) and butter coconut biscuits.

Asiana Food is a hidden gem and worth a trip. The food is traditional Korean and not Americanized. The entire bill came to $40 including the cookies. You pay at the grocery register.
