Kabob Land is a Persian restaurant in northwest Fresno located at 1540 East Nees Avenue at the corner of North Cedar. It is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. They open at 11:00 a.m. every day, and they close at 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
We started with a classic Persian dish, tahdig (crispy rice) smothered with gheimeh, a stew made with beef and yellow split peas. Gheimeh is simmered with dried lemons, giving it a unique flavor. The two entrees we ordered were koobideh (ground spiced meat cooked on a skewer), and we ordered one beef and one chicken koobideh. We ordered the beef with Persian rice and the chicken with a salad. The lunch portion comes with one skewer and the dinner portion comes with two. The food was authentic with Persian flavors.
