Fasika Ethiopian Restaurant is located in central Fresno on Blackstone Avenue, and is open for lunch and dinner five days a week. Fasika's menu contains a long list of Ethiopian dishes as well as a page full of Kenyan dishes. It has a large variety of vegetarian dishes. Two of us stopped in for lunch.
We ordered an appetizer of meat sambusas, which have a unique flavor from the seasoning. Fasika also has a vegatable sambusa on the menu.
For the entree we ordered the four vegetarian dishes. We chose the four from of a long list of Ethiopian and Kenyan dishes.
Ethiopian food is served on injera bread, a spongy flat bread. You eat it by tearing off a piece of bread and picking up the food with the bread.
Coffee was first grown in Ethiopia, so we had to finish lunch with cardamon flavored Ethiopian coffee. This bold coffee laced with fresh cardamon was among the best coffee we'd ever had.
