The Broilers is a Fresno area chain of four 'fast and healthy' Mediterranean restaurants featuring Middle Eastern and Armenian food. Three of the locations are in north Fresno and one is in Clovis. We visited the one at 2088 West Shaw Avenue at the corner of West, next to Starbucks.
The Broilers is open every day, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
They specialize in slowly spit-roasted meats such as shawerma and gyros, and serve these in full plates, pita sandwiches, or salads. They also serve falafel, served all three ways. Side dishes include yalanchi (grape leaves stuffed with seasoned rice) and tabouli (a finely chopped salad of parsley with tomatoes, mint, onion, and bulgur, seasoned with olive oil and lemon juice). The main desserts are bakalava (filo dough layered with nuts and soaked in honey), and all of its variations (such as bird's nest bakalava).
