Sticky Rice on Wheels

Sticky Rice on Wheels
This week's entry during the COVID-19 restaurant shutdown is Sticky Rice on Wheels, a Lao food truck serving the Fresno area. If you are not yet familiar with Laotian food, Laos is north of Thailand and west of Vietnam, and both countries influenced Laotian cuisine. The food truck's nightly location can be found on Facebook or Instagram.

We ordered egg rolls, chicken with sticky rice, and Crying Tiger.

The chicken is fried and crisp. The egg rolls are also fried.

Crying Tiger is a grilled beef with a spicy sauce you dip the beef in. There are various stories as to why it’s called Crying Tiger beef. One legend is that the cut of meat the ancient people used, brisket, reminded them of tiger skin, and so they called it “tiger meat.”
Another legend is that when the meat is grilled, the juices produced from the heat fell like tears, hence “crying tiger.”

Our dishes came to $26.99 including tax.
