Real Philly

 Real Philly

This week's COVID-19 journey heads to a food truck featuring the classic food of Philadelphia. "Real Philly" is a Fresno area truck featuring cheesesteaks, chicken cutlet sandwiches, and roast pork sandwiches. They are all served on locally baked Italian rolls that are similar to the classic Amoroso roll (Amoroso rolls are baked by a Philadelphia area bakery for cheesesteaks and hoagies and distributed nationwide).
We ordered a cheesesteak with the original toppings, onions and provolone. (Cheese Wiz was also available for those who insist on it.) I was hoping for a pork sandwich with broccoli rabe, but they had no pork the night we were there, so we settled for broccoli rabe on a cheesesteak. Broccoli rabe (also known as rapini) is a green vegetable cooked with garlic that looks somewhat like broccoli and is part of the classic Philadelphia Italian pork sandwich.

Real Philly can be found at the usual food truck venues in the Fresno area through Instagram.

Our total for two sandwiches came to $23.75 including tax.
