Irish O'Sullivan' Sunnyside Lounge

Irish O'Sullivan's Sunnyside Lounge

Irish O'Sullivan's is an Irish themed bar and restaurant in southeast Fresno. When we walked in, we thought we were in Boston or Albany or Chicago. The menu is classic East Coast Irish bar food. The large menu had selections of starters, soups and salads, sandwiches, and traditional pub fare, plus three main sections for Burgers and Dogs; Steaks, Chops and Ribs; and Chicken and Seafood. We ordered from the pub fare section. We skipped the Corned Beef and Cabbage but decided to order three Irish pub classics: fish and chips; bangers and mash; and shepherd's pie.

We Started With Irish Lamb Stew

Shepherd's Pie with Garlic Toast and Vegetables

Guinness Battered Fish and Chips

Bangers and Mash

For the soup starter, we ordered the Irish Lamb Stew. The stew was hearty and would have been a wonderful entree on its own. The fish and chips were warm and crisp. The bangers and mash were warm and filling, with a generous portion of the mashed potato. The shepherd's pie had a nice crisp top and warm beef stew under the potatoes.

The proper way to finish an Irish pub meal is with bread pudding. Irish O'Sullivan's version was outstanding. The bread is made with raisins, cranberries, and walnuts. It is deep fried and topped with Irish whiskey pudding.

Our three dishes with stew and the bread pudding and coffee came to $62.75 including tax but not tip.
Irish O'Sullivan's is located at 5689 East Kings Canyon Road in Fresno. They are open seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. until midnight.
