Shepherd's Inn is a Basque and American restaurant located in downtown Fresno across the street from the Amtrak station. It is located in a historic building on the National Register of Historic Places. There is a lot of foot traffic in this location, but we did not let that put us off from a hearty Basque meal.
The menu consists of meat and seafood entrees that can be served as American or Basque style. Basque style includes family-style sides including soup, Basque bread, green salad, macaroni salad, stew (paella the day we were there), and fries. You will be asked if you want wine, and if you say yes to the traditional Basque wine, it will be a dark, sweet red wine.
We ordered pork chops and lamb chops as entrees. You will be asked if you want garlic on your chops, and we said yes.

Bring your appetite because there is a lot of food. The food was not fancy but was like good home cooking. We did order the wine, and the total came to $74.69, including tax.
Shepherd's Inn is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The street address is 935 Santa Fe Avenue in Fresno.
