Sequoia Brewing Company

Sequoia Brewing Company

The Sequoia Brewing Company is a locally owned brew pub with two locations in Fresno. We visited the original brew pub in the Tower District at 777 East Olive Avenue.

Scott and Michele Kendall purchased Butterfield Brewing Company in February 2000. Butterfield’s started in the spring of 1989 in the heart of the historical Tower District, Fresno, California. The Kendalls changed the name to Sequoia Brewing Company in October of 2003. The Sequoia Brewing Company and Restaurant with outdoor dining is now a Tower District icon in Fresno.

The menu contains hot appetizers, grill items, pizza, salads, pasta, specialty sandwiches, and monthly specials. We ordered jambalaya and beignets off of the monthly special menu for February, and the Sequoia shrimp boil from the specialties menu.

Sequoia Brewing is open seven days a week. Monday-Thursday: 11:00AM – 10:00PM, Friday-Saturday: 11:00am – 12:00AM, and Sunday: 11:00AM – 9:00PM.

Hot, Fresh Beignets
Beignet is the French term for a pastry made from deep-fried choux pastry. They are covered in powdered sugar. It is a classic New Orleans food. Beignets are often round and so are sometimes called "New Orleans" or "Louisiana" doughnuts, but fresh, hot beignets are so much more than that.

Our Jambalaya, shrimp boil , and beignets came to $38.15 including tax
