Challahday Bread Company
Our Covid-19 journey in Fresno continues with a Micro-Bakery, the Challahday Bread Company specializing in Jewish holiday baked goods. You place your order either by calling them or through their web site.
All orders are delivered locally in the cities of Fresno/Clovis. Delivery arrangements are made at the time your order is placed. The Challahday Bread Company asks that you place your order at least 48 hours prior to the desired delivery of your baked goods, and if at all possible, place Holiday orders at least 2 weeks prior to the holiday.
We ordered their namesake Challah Bread. They make several varieties. We ordered the Whole Wheat Spiral Holiday Challah With Dried Fruit. Since the holiday of Purim was last week, we ordered the traditional Hamantaschen. Hamantaschen is an Ashkenazi Jewish triangular pocket cookie filled with dried fruit paste (such as dates). The name refers to Haman, the villain in the Purim story. In Hebrew, Hamantaschen are known as oznei Haman, 'Haman's ears.' Purim is a Jewish holiday which commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from Haman, who was planning to kill all the Jews, as recounted in the Book of Esther.
